The city is offering the following free, family-friendly, drop-in activities in parks across the community throughout the summer, aimed at getting residents engaged in active play and nature.

Summer Fun Trailer

This trailer brings recreation services and summer activities right to your neighbourhood. Trailer items include sports balls (soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc.), lawn games, skateboards, scooters, and helmets, and arts and crafts. Items are free to use and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment is suitable for all ages, but participants must be 12 years or older to sign out items.

Community Connect at Lampman Garden

Enjoy family-friendly activities and hands-on garden activities. The Lampman Community Garden is more than just a place to plant — it’s a place where families, neighbours, and friends come together to connect, create, and cultivate community.

Neighbourhood Nights

This summer series is hosted Wednesday evenings from 2 to 7 p.m. in neighbourhoods across the city, offering recreation activities, nature experiences, and a chance to connect with community services.

Nature Play Days

Nature Play Days will feature the Nature Play Trailer, which houses a variety of wood pieces used to make and build things, and a nature crafting station. Nature Play Days at Painswick Park and St. Vincent Park will also include events at the Driftwood Garden, offering learning opportunities focused on plant care and mental well-being. Suited for children ages two to 12 and their families.

Park Takeovers

Let nature take over your day. Learn about local wildlife, participate in hands-on activities and enjoy the beauty of our natural surroundings. Suited for children ages two to 12 and their families.

Sandy Shores Kitchen and Café

Kids can engage in sensory play, using their creativity to cook up imaginary dishes, get their hands dirty, explore and learn about nature. Suited for children ages two to eight and their families.
