MIDLAND — Craving a dining experience that’s as rich in flavour as it is in history? Step into the past at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons for an exclusive, immersive culinary journey that brings the 1600s to life — one exquisite bite at a time.

Illuminated by candlelight and set within the storied walls of the historic Jesuit mission. Guests are welcomed to gather around an abundant harvest table in the mission’s chapel, where they’ll savour an artfully prepared, multi-course French feast inspired by the flavours of the era.

“With Hearth to Table, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons has created an immersive, one-of-a-kind historical and gastronomical experience you won’t want to miss,” said Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming Stan Cho. “Now more than ever, it’s important that we support made-in-Ontario experiences that celebrate our history and culture.

"This summer, take a trip to Midland with family and friends and enjoy an authentic 17th-century feast while learning about a unique era of North America’s past," Cho added.

The evening’s thoughtfully curated menu showcases authentic, seasonal ingredients, meticulously prepared using traditional 17th-century techniques. Each course is introduced by a costumed historical interpreter, who brings the history of the dish to life with fascinating insights into the era’s cooking practices.

Guests will gain a deeper appreciation for the artistry and ingenuity required to craft exceptional meals using only the limited tools and ingredients available in the 1600s.

“We’re excited to introduce a new, one-of-a-kind opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in history while savouring a unique culinary experience,” says Will Baird, general manager of Huronia Historical Parks. “Hearth to Table allows guests the chance to connect with the land and the past in a way that’s as fascinating as it is delicious.”

Cost: $56.24 per person plus taxes and Eventbrite fees – gratuities are not expected or accepted.
Times: 6 p.m. arrival, dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Dates: June 28, July 26, Aug. 16, Sept. 20

In collaboration with historical specialists from Huronia Historical Parks, Restaurant Sainte-Marie has crafted four distinct menus for the extraordinary Hearth to Table series — each one a culinary tribute to the 17th century.

The first prix fixe experience, launching on June 28, promises a feast for the senses: Begin with a rustic starter of salt-cured meat and fresh peas atop crusty bread. Followed by a succulent pork loin in a rich Sauce Robert, paired with sage-roasted carrots and herb-stuffed mushrooms.

Conclude with a delicate feuilletine — layers of crisp, baked crêpes that melt in your mouth. To elevate the experience, expertly selected wine and craft beer pairings are available for purchase, while a curated selection of non-alcoholic beverages is included.

With only four exclusive dates this summer and limited seating available, guests are encouraged to get their tickets now. Three dates are already sold out.
