The Orillia Junior Royals travelled to Creemore on Saturday to take on the league-leading Creemore Padres.
The Royals had a huge, bat-around, six-run third inning to vault them to a 7-3 victory to hand Creemore its first home loss of the North Dufferin Baseball League season.
Orillia received a stellar six-inning start from Wyatt Thompson, who scattered only four hits and called on Emmit MacDonald to come in to close out the game with the save.
On offence, the Royals got hits from Matthew Klingspohn (2), Jhett Winkel, Whyatt Winkel, Chase Brennan, Reece Boyle and Teddy McCollum-Kuntz to help pace the win.
The victory clinched fourth place for the Royals and solidified home-field advantage for their first-round playoff clash against the fifth-place Barrie Jr. Baycats.
Game 1 goes Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Jerry Udell diamond at Tudhope Park in Orillia. The series shifts to Barrie for Game 2 on Sunday night at Lennox Park on Big Bay Point Road, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is free and all are welcome to come watch some exciting playoff baseball.
