The Globe and Mail has launched Intersect/25, a new event in downtown Toronto that boasts an all-star list of speakers from across the country. The focus? Canada. Our sovereignty, our economic future, and how we as a country should respond in the face of current threats.
During this particularly rough political climate, business leaders, political figures and policy experts will come together at the forum to discuss the many challenges Canada faces— and propose a path to solutions.
The impressive and varied list of speakers includes CIBC President and CEO Victor G. Dodig (The event’s presenting sponsor is CIBC), GM Canada President Kristian Aquilina, Wealthsimple CEO Michael Katchen, Premier Doug Ford, reporters and editors from The Globe and Mail, and even Craig Wong, renowned chef and and owner of Patois Toronto.
Intersect/25 takes place at The Fairmont Royal York Hotel from 8AM-5PM on Monday, June 9th. The day will start off with a delicious networking breakfast, followed by remarks from Globe and Mail Editor-in-Chief David Walmsley, and then from Mayor Olivia Chow.
The moderated conversations start off at 9AM, discussing a wide range of topics— from the impacts of U.S. tariffs on Canadian businesses, to new strategies for improving Canada’s lagging productivity, and how our country can thrive in the digital, low-carbon economy.
Craig Wong delivers the keynote at lunchtime, and later in the afternoon, the crowd will hear an interesting discussion with Premier Doug Ford and Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston. The two will be talking about the main issues impacting Nova Scotia and Ontario, as well as the country at large.
There is also a workforce development panel that will focus on strategies to solve this dilemma, featuring Lisa Lalande, CEO of Century Initiative; Noah Baldwin, Executive Director of Future Skills Centre; and Dawn Madahbee Leach, Chair of the National Indigenous Economic Development Board.
Between these discussions, there will be plenty of room for attendees to meet and chat. The event will likely be a who’s-who of business, media, and politics in Canada. This moment calls for all Canadians to put their heads together and strategize on how our country can survive and thrive.
Single tickets for Intersect/25 are still available for now, as well as table rates for teams of up to 10 guests. It is recommended that tickets are purchased sooner rather than later, before they sell out.
